The human body loses heat four ways — radiation, conduction, convection, and evaporation. In a survival situation, those losses stack fast, and untreated they drive the body toward hypothermia. Material & Construction
At the core of the Survival Sack is metallized BoPET film — the heat-reflective mylar first proven in NASA spaceflight and now standard in emergency rooms, ambulances, and military cold-weather kits. A vacuum-deposited metallic layer turns the film into a radiant mirror, bouncing escaping body heat back toward the skin instead of letting it bleed into a cold environment.
Unlike a flat space blanket that the wind peels off a shivering casualty, the Survival Sack is engineered as a full-body bivy sack. You step in or slide a patient in, and the sealed envelope traps a pocket of warm air around the entire body — sealing out drafts and dramatically cutting the convective heat loss that flat blankets can’t control.
The exterior is finished in high-visibility safety orange, doing double duty as a rescue signal: it stands out against snow, brush, water, and rubble, helping aircrews, SAR teams, and responders locate a survivor fast.
