The Blizzard IFAK Active Warming Kit (AWK) adds unparalleled capability to prevent and manage hypothermia to any First Aid Kit (FAK) or even as stand-alone kit.  The Blizzard IFAK Active Warming Kit provides the Blizzard Compact (2-layer) Trauma Blanket (orange) and a HAWK™ Warming Grid (4 Cell).  This unique combination is specifically designed to prevent and manage hypothermia. This kit is ideal for emergency situations where the upper body needs protection. With a low cube and weight it fits great in your backpack or in the car or boat or for summer adventures, or anywhere you face the unknown environmental conditions.

The Blizzard Compact Trauma Blanket is the first layer of defense against hypothermia. It provides warmth of 5.5 Togs which is equal to a medium weight regular sleeping bag.  It provides significant weather protection as it is fully waterproof and windproof. The blanket’s small size and light weight make it easy to carry, whether as personal safety equipment, or for rapid deployment in emergencies involving large groups.  The Blizzard Compact Trauma Blanket consists of two (2) layers of Reflexcell™ technology.  These two (2) expandable layers are constructed of metalized material with an elastic core. This allows baffles to form, trapping warm air between a patient and the surrounding elements.  This version of the Blizzard Blanket is also flat-folded and vacuum-packed to minimize cube space. It’s salient points includes being lightweight and convenient, Reusable (without degradation), designed to wrap round the upper body while aiding in hypothermia management.

The second layer of hypothermia defense is the HAWK™ Warming Grid (4 Cell).  The HAWK™ Warming Grid is a self-contained, portable heat source that has the capability of precision tuning and safely activates in just minutes. The HAWK is air activated and heat adjustable, using advanced technology to maintain optimal temperature. It’s simple shut off capability extends the life of the warming grid while the HAWK Warming Grid (4 Cell) pad provides 4-16 hours of constant heat, depending on therapeutic need.
